Spectacular Spring Party

Kendall Burley and Nicole Johnson, Co-owners of Cherry Kissed Events, set up this warm and intimate Vintage Tea Party.  The ladies set up several vignettes that really created a relaxing and enjoyable party atmosphere. Here is what Kendall says about the steps to put together a fun and inspiration filled design:

Planning a High Tea was something we had been talking about for some time. Putting our ideas and items together with the help of several talented local vendors enabled us to transform our thoughts into the ‘Perfect Tea Party’. Having a desire to be able to connect more intimately with our vendors and introduce them to each other we felt the tea party would be a fabulous platform to do just that.  Not to mention, also getting some incredible pictures to show potential clients how fun and inviting a tea party can be!

Nicole’s family had left her some exquisite pieces of china, and a dear friend of ours started a vintage rental company with several vintage pieces perfect for a tea party. It was incredibly exciting to bring together all the elements to create this sweet tea party. Knowing many of the china pieces would bring in Spring’s traditional pastel colors we wanted to expand on them. Our color palette consisted of luscious purples, rich golds, vivid pinks and brilliant greens. Inspired by old world tradition, we incorporated old frame, bunting, burlap, glass bottles, and antique books to create a vintage feel.  For a finishing touch we added bright green pears to each place setting to bring in just the right splash of color to our table.

Fate would have it that our neighbor’s back yard was the perfect setting for our party. It came with some of its own interesting vintage pieces like an old bench, chairs, & a wheel barrel. California has been having unusual weather this last year so we were not sure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise when it turned out to be warm and sunny, inviting the most charming butterflies to join us for a glorious spring day.

Keeping with the feel of spring we created beautiful flower arrangements by blending in handpicked foliage from the neighborhood with seasonal wildflowers that were bought from Trader Joes, a local grocery store.

Working within a tight budget and wanting the most bang for our buck we created a menu that was simple and tasted great. The days menu included a dainty pink cake (with mini bunting we made from scraps of paper) from an awesome local bakery, some home-made delicious sparkling cupcakes, plates and jars filled with tasty jams, buttery scones and croissants. We rounded the menu out with delicious coffee cake, mini cucumber sandwiches, some sumptuous cheeses & crackers and of course a plethora of teas to choice from.

This delectable spread enticed everyone to relax and join in.

No tea party would be complete without some games, so what better way to enjoy the beautiful day then by playing a game of Scrabble!  Setting up a Scrabble game with some mouth watering goodies was the perfect ‘ice-breaker’ needed for everyone to get to know each other and enjoy the party.

After capturing some awesome pictures, we delighted in enjoying the best part of our day…visiting with close friends and vendors, listening to music, playing games, reminiscing about life, and enjoying heavenly food in a spectacular setting.

Life doesn’t get better than this.

WOW!!! What a spectacular Tea Party!
You really hit a home run, the back yard setting is so cozy and inviting, and the table settings are really exquisite paired with those yummy looking goodies, I'm ready to have a tea party right now. I especially loved the novel idea of including games, Scrabble is one of my favorites. Fabulous job girls!

  3. I love the idea of making the ancient ritual of tea new again by adding vintage pieces, garden decor, games, and a fabulous menu…no stuffiness here! The moment the guest walk in they are filled with visual delight to take them back to another era, what a great icebreaker for the guest to mingle and take it all in.The garden decor items placed around adds to the feeling of a secret garden, enchantment takes over and you are swept away in relaxation. The games, the cupcakes on the menu and the cute sign all add a new twist. I LOVE THIS party concept, even I could hold a vintage tea and have it come off well by following the Cherry Kissed playbook of wonderful ideas. Definitely they should win!
